Sorbitol, a polyol (sugar alcohol) is a bulk sweetener, syrupy liquid found in numerous food products. Most sorbitol is made from corn syrup, but it is also found in nature, for example in apples, pears, peaches, and prunes. In addition to providing sweetness, it is an excellent humectant and texturizing agent. It is used in a wide variety of oral care, pharmaceuticals, soaps, paints, food, confectionary, industrial applications.
